A smoothie is a drink made with fresh or frozen fruit (sometimes vegetables) blended and mixed with fruit juice, crushed ice or frozen yoghurt. This is different from a milkshake since there is no milk, whipped cream or sweetened syrup. It is also possible to prepare warm smoothies, to be enjoyed in winter to fill up with vitamins to face the cold weather. Here are a few tips for making good smoothies:
Choose only seasonal fruits to enjoy all their benefits.
Choose natural sugars (honey, maple syrup) rather than powdered sugar. For example, many banana smoothie recipes add honey, but it is not necessarily necessary, and it is up to each person’s taste.
To enhance the creaminess, add banana or mango or Greek yoghurt.
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe bananas
- 20cl Cold whole milk
- 2 teaspoons Sugar
- 2Drops vanilla flavouring
Directions:
Peel and chop the two bananas. Reserve a few slices for decoration.
Place a large glass in the refrigerator while you prepare.
Blend the banana pieces with the milk, sugar and vanilla flavouring for 30 seconds until smooth and frothy.
Pour the smoothie into the cooled glass, decorate the rim with banana slices before serving.
